Rainier Scholars

Rainier Scholars cultivates the academic potential and leadership skills of hardworking, underrepresented students of color. They offer a pathway to college graduation for Seattle-area low-income students of color by providing access to transformative educational opportunities. Scholars engage in a proven, 12-year model that brings together the academic preparation, leadership development and personalized support they need to graduate from a four-year college and become career professionals and leaders in our community. (Adapted from Rainier Scholars)

I had the privilege of working with many scholars during my years as a middle school art and leadership teacher at a Rainier Scholars partner school. Witnessing the resiliency, creativity and leadership of these students during a small part of their journey to academic and professional success places Rainier Scholars as a local organization close to my heart.

Refugee Women's Alliance

Refugee Women's Alliance is a Seattle nonprofit serving local refugee and immigrant women and their families. ReWA works to help the refugee and immigrant community to thrive through services to assist with integration, self-sufficiency and stabilization, including language proficiency and employment assistance. (Adapted from ReWA)

ReWA was one of the first organizations Yardia fundraised for in 2017, and I'm so happy to be able to be able to now support this nonprofit on a consistent basis through Yardia.

The Nature Conservancy of Washington

The mission of the Nature Conservancy of Washington is to conserve the lands and waters upon which all life depends. Their approach is to achieve large-scale, long-lasting results in Washington State that benefit places and build communities of people with a common vision. Science-based and solution-oriented, The Nature Conservancy learns from nature and the people closest to the lands, waters and wildlife they work to conserve. (Adapted from The Nature Conservancy)

The Nature Conservancy local chapter's long-term vision for our land is a value in alignment with my own, and with one of my oldest friends working closely with their conservation efforts, I'm grateful to be able to see their work take shape.
